From dengbêj evenings to quiz shows and documentaries, WAAR Media tells Kurdish stories in Kurmancî — on TV, on the radio and online.
WAAR Media is a cultural media institute based in Duhok. It was established in 2013, and in 2019 it began a new chapter with new management and a new editorial policy. Today WAAR is part of Palo Broadcasting and Media Company, which includes WAAR TV, WAAR Radio and several social media platforms.
Its programmes cover history, documentary, music, drama and children’s television — most of them made in Kurmancî, for viewers at home and across the diaspora.

A season of programmes
Documentaries return to old photographs and forgotten villages, cultural programmes follow craftswomen and cooks, and health and society shows answer viewers’ questions. A few of this season’s titles:

10 Gav — ten steps, one contestant
WAAR’s quiz show asks a contestant to climb ten steps, each one a harder question, across history, geography, literature, science and everyday life.
Behind the studio lights sits a large bank of questions written and checked by the editorial team, sorted by level and category, so every episode is fair and every question is used only once.
Uniting people through art, culture and heritage.

Music and the dengbêj tradition
Music is at the heart of the channel: from young singers on Kurdish Talent to the storytellers of Warê Dengbêjan, WAAR records performances that might otherwise never be filmed. New episodes are published on waarmedia.com and on WAAR’s YouTube channel.
